The data sources reflect both the conventional and renewable aspects of Eskom’s energy infrastructure and track system stability metrics, with a daily frequency.

Data Attributes

Each series is updated daily with either summation or average data values, depending on the metric. Key attributes include:

• Frequency Description: Specifies whether data is a daily summation (e.g., Total Generation) or daily average (e.g., Pump Storage Unit Hours).
• Unit of Measure: Most energy generation metrics are in megawatt-hours (MWh), while unit operational hours are reported in hours.

This granular classification allows for detailed tracking of Eskom’s performance and resource allocation, supporting analysis of both operational efficiency and contributions to South Africa’s energy grid.

Please note that the portal provides daily data, but the underlying data as reported by Eskom is hourly.
